Building KU's Teaching and Learning Community

CTE Learning Community: Teaching at a Predominantly White Institution

GTAs, as well as part- and full-time instructors, and faculty are welcome to join a CTE learning community focused on the experiences and plans for teaching at a PWI.  Our purposes are to learn from each other’s teaching experiences, provide resources for each other, and collaborate on strategies to make our classrooms more inclusive and equitable.  Participants from any identity background are welcome.

Participants can join any number of sessions during the Fall 2021 semester.  Join 1, 2, 3, or 4.  Join all 5. There will be no pre-reading and all resources discussed the sessions will be curated and placed on a CTE resource website.  The first three topics have been chosen by the facilitators.  The remaining topics will be chosen by participants.  Zoom links will be sent upon registration.

Format and Topics:

The format of the learning community will include a large-group discussion facilitated by Shawna and Kim and then break-out rooms for more discussion and resource sharing.  If participants would like to opt into break-out rooms for people of color, we will provide that option for each session.

All sessions are held from 12:00 - 12:55 p.m. on their respective dates. After registering for the sessions below, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
